With each child sexual abuse reference (i.e. website, image, video.) we remove from the Internet, there is one less instance of repeat-victimisation and a chance to give voice to an unidentified child victim who may be suffering in silence, often out of fear, often because they are too young to even speak.
An analysis of facts, figures and trends in tackling illegal content online. In 2019, Hotline.ie identified more child sexual abuse material (CSAM) than ever before, with 1 in 4 of 10,773 public reports received classified as CSAM. This represents a marked increase of 79% in CSAM reports over the previous year (2018). The 2,575 URLs which displayed thousands of child sexual abuse images and videos appeared across 62 domains, traced to 32 countries worldwide.

To mark the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (18 November) Hotline.ie released its latest annual report. Our aim is to raise public awareness on the crucial importance of reporting suspect images and videos of children online. The cost of not knowing is immense.
By reading the 2018 Hotline.ie Annual Report you will learn about the importance of a coordinated national approach to combating child sexual abuse and exploitation online, underpinned by international cooperation. It is hard to overstate, the importance of the public’s contribution. The Annual Report is an informative resource aiming to raise awareness and provide facts, figures and analysis of trends in respect to national efforts for combating Child Sexual Exploitation Online. Hotline.ie works in partnership with law enforcement, government, Internet Industry, and 44 other Hotlines across the globe coming together as INHOPE, to ensure that every reported and confirmed Child Sexual Abuse image/video is removed from the Internet irrespective of where in the world it may be hosted.
In 2017, we received and processed more reports than ever before and identified 44% more Child Sexual Abuse content than in 2016. Significantly, for the first time in eight years none of the Hotline.ie confirmed Child Sexual Abuse Imagery was traced to the Republic of Ireland.

The Annual Report provides an overview of Hotline.ie operations for the period 1st January to 31st December 2016. It is notable that in the period Hotline.ie received and processed an unprecedented number of reports, which marked an increase of 47% from the previous highest year on record [2014]. Hotline.ie is committed as ever to continue working in conjunction with European and international Hotline counterparts to ensure swift action against identified Child Sexual Abuse Imagery irrespective of where in the world it may be hosted.

ISPAI Hotline.ie Service – Annual Report analysing Illegal Content reported to the service in the period January to December 2015 was published today (28th June 2016) at a launch event addressed by David Stanton T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality, which was held at the Irish Architectural Archive, Dublin.
The Hotline.ie Annual Report – an analysis of Online Illegal Content covering January to December 2014 – was launched by the Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald T.D., during a press event held in Dublin, at the Irish Architectural Archive, on the 14th May 2015.
The Hotline.ie Annual Report – which analyses reports of illegal content made to service during 2013, was launched by the Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald T.D., at an address given by her at the ISPAI Hotline.ie meeting “Zero Tolerance to Child Sexual Abuse Material Online” held in the Merrion Hotel, Dublin.

This report gives an overview of complaints received by the Hotline during 2011 and the results of the investigations carried out by the Hotline Analysts. It provides an insight into the illegal content being uncovered and the apparent location of this material. This year’s report provides results of a nationwide survey of adults’ attitudes to the Internet in relation to illegal and harmful content. Also, the report highlights that in 2011 Ireland returned to its clean record with no instance of illegal content reported to the Hotline being hosted in Ireland.There were 92 unique instances of illegal content traced to other jurisdictions and forwarded to authorities in those countries for action.
