Day in the life of an Analyst
I arrived at the office around 8ish in the morning, greeted by the sunshine streaming through the windows—even the Luas driver seemed to be in a great mood. I was excited to start the day, eager to share my insights and offer advice to my colleagues, as well as the incredible individuals who submit reports daily.
Like always, we kick off the morning with a couple of coffees before diving into our reports—without that, Mondays just wouldn’t go smoothly! Since we also work over the weekend, starting on Monday doesn’t feel like picking up from the unknown. We carefully go through each report, making sure to handle them with care and urgency. One of our main priorities is tackling cases involving intimate images, as so many people fall victim to these situations especially the young ones. We are always striving to improve our skills through training and courses, ensuring we can offer the best support possible.
It’s always a little unsettling to think about the people on the other end—some may have barely slept, feeling lost and unsure about what to do. Many are too afraid to speak up, not wanting to involve their parents or friends, which make them feel even more alone and vulnerable. That’s why we act fast, ensuring they get the support they need as soon as possible.
Before lunch, if the Irish weather is on our side, we take a stroll together to clear our minds. If not, well, we power through! The nature of our work can be overwhelming, but having a strong, supportive team makes all the difference. We’re more than just co-workers—we share the same experiences, the same challenges, and the same goal: to make the internet a safer place. Because of that, no day in the office—or anywhere else—ever feels truly impossible to get through.
To keep our mental health in check, we have wellness activities every two months. Someone always comes up with a fun idea—usually involving food. (Everyone at the office is obsessed with Italian, but I’m not the biggest fan… though, what can you do?) We also mix it up with Indian, Thai, Chinese, or traditional Irish dishes. Besides that, we play games, go hiking, and explore new places. My next goal? Convincing the team to take a trip to Belfast—wish me luck!
Our psychologists check in now and then, offering mental health advice, but at the end of the day, we know ourselves best. We keep pushing forward because what we do matters
